Duly Noted: Don't Forget to Remember Me...

As my pastor would say, and many of yours I'm certain, I promise I'll be brief; but don't hold me to it.

I was recently going through a trial, a problem, a tough time, and didn't really know what else to do. I was sitting, quite literally on the throne in the Palace of Porcelain, pondering the best possible solution when I the Lord dropped somethin on me.

"Have you realized that you never ask me to help you anymore?" the Lord asked. I paused, really taking in the question and questioning it's validity. "You're quick to give thanks when I do something, but you haven't asked me for my help in while."

I didn't know what to say to that. Not like I felt like the Lord was begging me to say something, I'm sure there is enough to do up there.

I started thinking about my pastor back home in California, reminding us in a Sunday morning sermon to not be the Christian that only knocked on the good Lord's door with our problems, but to also slip a "thank you" note under the door from time to time.

I think I'd taken that advice and to the other extreme. The Lord got plenty of Hallmark cards from me, "thank you for life and love;" and "I'm grateful for your faithfulness;" the occasional "thank you for your vision and it's provision," but while I was so busy trying to be grateful I'd forgotten to come to the Lord when I was in trouble. I had completely forgotten the request box that I'd so frequently stuffed with notes about a car, someone to love, money, success, and the like. My outbox of requests had grown dusty and neglected.

I've been reminded of the importance of sometimes just asking for a little help. No person is an island, we all need a little help from time to time, trial to trail, throne to throne. Who better to call in the time of need, than the one who's got it all in their hands?

I think that was brief enough... and you didn't even have to ask, be gratetful... (smile)

Best,
